In this summer with tropical temperatures, the 40th Estate Romana (Roman Summer) takes place until September 30th. This event has filled the Eternal City with a series of concerts and other events for the last few years, making it even more fascinating. In every municipality there are art, science, and culture exhibitions. Moreover, from this year, the organizers have had the possibility to develop project to realize in the next three years, and this continuity adds the pleasure of the evolution of this event to the enjoyment of the current event. The several events are aimed both at tourists, who can add memorable experiences to the classic historical and artistic routes, and Romans, who will feel on holiday even while staying in their own town.

The events are many, for all tastes and ages! They take place during the day and go from a classic theatre play to a kids’ laboratory, from a concert in an open venue to the exhibitions taking place next to the greatest monuments of Imperial Rome, such as the Colosseum. The event “Lungo il Tevere (Along the Tiber)” allows visitors to stroll along the river amongst stalls (where hand made products are sold), taste delicacies and enjoy both theatre and musical performances. This initiative, which has been there for years, makes the river banks an attraction to those who want to spend the night outside in the heart of the Eternal City.

In the gardens of Castel Sant’Angelo, the protagonist is the event “Letture d’Estate lungo il Fiume tra gli alberi (Summer readings along the river and among the trees), full of initiatives for book lovers of all ages!

An evocative guided tour, about 2 hours long, is “Fantasmi a Roma (Ghosts in Rome)”. It is an itinerary on ghosts that takes place among piazza Navona, piazza Campo de’ Fiori, piazza Farnese, via del Governo Vecchio and Ponte Sant’Angelo, where you can see actors acting out some excerpts that talk about people who were protagonists of tragic events between myth and history, as for example the unlucky Beatrice Cenci (put to death together with her family for having killed the evil father).

Before tackling this fascinating walk through fountains, churches, and building of the Baroque Rome, you can savour a slice of pizza at Mami, in via della Pace 27/A
